What is cross-linked polyethylene insulated cable?

Published by Author: Joey Wan January 22,2021

The cross-linked polyethylene insulated cable is the insulating medium material is XLPE, the temperature resistance can reach 90 °C, the cable has a simple structure, light weight, good heat resistance, strong load capacity, non-melting, resistant Chemical corrosion, high mechanical strength. Common cross-linked polyethylene insulated cables, such as high-voltage cables, N2XY, Armour cable, photovoltaic cables and other cables. This article will focus on describing N2XY, XLPE armour cable, and solar cables.

The rated voltage of N2XY, XLPE armour cable is 0.6/1KV, they are all cross-linked polyethylene insulated cables, the main difference between the two products is the difference between armored and non-armored. They are usually laid indoors, tunnels, cable trenches and pipelines, and can also be buried in loose soil. N2XY cables cannot bear mechanical external forces, and XLPE armour cables can bear mechanical external forces. Cross-linked polyethylene insulated cable has higher hardness, stiffness, abrasion resistance and impact resistance than PVC. It is not susceptible to environmental stress and cracking, and its service life can reach 40 years or more.

Solar cables are also a type of cross-linked polyethylene insulated cables. Some suppliers  provide PVC insulated cable. PVC insulated solar cables are cheaper than cross-linked polyethylene insulated, but their performance and service life are worse. Especially photovoltaic cables laid outdoors, using cross-linked polyethylene insulated cables, will have excellent heat resistance and can work in a 90 degree environment for a long time. Stable chemical properties, resistance to acid and alkali, ozone resistance, gasoline resistance and other characteristics.

JZD cable provides various types of cross-linked polyethylene insulated cable. We are a manufacturer with more than 20 years of experience. We only have a deep understanding of cables. We provide cables for countries and regions in need of Africa, South America, Southeast Asia, etc. To understand the standards in each region, please contact us for more information.
