The service life of PV1-F solar cable commonly can reach at 25 years, however when we contacted with some buyers or purchasers, they always doubt about using photovoltaic cable can not reach 25 years. Of course the worries from those customers are reasonablle, cause the normal PVC cable or rubber insulated cable only can be used for 5 years largestly. so does pv cable really has service life of 25 years?  Here's some tips arranged by solar cable manufacturing expert with 9 years JZD Cable.

See whether the cable manufacturer has a photovoltaic cable production license, whether there are TUV, PSE(compared to TUV, PSE is less applied by majorty of manufacturers) certification; Currently, there are only two standards for photovoltaic cables, one is The German EN standard and the other is the Japanese PSE standard. This paper only introduces the German EN standard, because it is used all over the world.

 

 

5 Important Steps for Solar Cable Certification

1. First of all, TUV-IEC62930(Ed.1) standard. This standard production of photovoltaic cable specifications model is: PV1-F (1*2.5/1*4/1*6/2*4mm² and so on) the most extensive range of use, the price is a little lower, most customers accept this type of photovoltaic cable

2. The second is EN50618:2014 new standard, this standard production of photovoltaic cable specification model is: H1Z2Z2-K (1*2.5/1*4/1*6-240mm², etc.), mainly popular in European countries, this standard added environmental protection smoke density and other detection standards, so the price is slightly higher.  

3. The conductor is tinned with class 5 soft conductor red copper wire, which conforms to IEC 60228 (IEC 60227 standard) or European and American EN 50525 standard. The conductor is soft and easy to install.  

4. Insulation/sheath material is irradiated crosslinked polyolefin, a kind of polymer compound, non-toxic halogen-free, good environmental performance, high strength, good insulation, high and low temperature resistance, oil resistance, uv resistance and so on, is the main material used in the future cable.  

5. The use of electron irradiation accelerator for irradiation processing, to achieve environmental temperature -40-120℃, uv resistance, corrosion resistance and other excellent characteristics.  Have their own radiation core equipment, to avoid outsourcing processing increased costs.  

The appearance of insulaton or sheath layer of a pv cable is bright without scratch marks, and the printed words are clear, including the company name and TUV logo.

PV1-F VS H1Z2Z2-K

Compared to the H1Z2Z2-K pv cable, PV1-F solar cable is more popular, there are lots of factors causing such situation.

Firstly the PV1-F solar cable is cheaper than H1Z2Z2-K pv cable, cause the H1Z2Z2-K pv cable has more strict require on the low smoke zero halogen property, the XLPE and LZSH materials used in the pv1-f has commonly are easier be purchased by the most of manufacturers.

Secondly the PV1-F need be certified by the TUV who is more widely admitted by buyers and purchaser all over the world.

Thirdly the PV1-F solar cable and H1Z2Z2-K pv cable both has similar properties, however the PV1-F solar cable has the twin core structure design, however the H1Z2Z2-K pv cable has no such structure.
